Days before New Orleans
Dec 28, 03:46 AM
On December 26, I felt really good about going to work. I woke up, got ready and drove to the Los Angeles area, where Liferay is located and found out that there was no one in, the day after Christmas.
This gave me much needed time to buy necessities on the upcoming trip. I rode my bike around town, accruing items in my courier bag which weighed around 14lbs when I finished my ride.
This happened the Friday before our departure. I was excited and I also pegged a bunch of items like energy bars and thermals off the list. For the past two weeks I’ve been scheming on the lightest possible cold weather layering I could think of.
I came up with a wool, cotton, thermal, combination, to wick moisture and keep heat in. I am also ready for the rain with a jacket and wool/Lycra warmers to keep water or sweat away from my skin and allow it to breath. I’ve tested these riding my bike around in 30-40 degree weather. There’s a likely possibility of rain, so I’ve also purchased a lightweight rain jacket with taped seams that is very breathable. My clothing strategy wont interfere with my movement even though it may be five layers in. Everything is lightweight and thin. Most of my weather strategy depends on my lightweight jacket, warmth wise, I’m good and ready. I’m pretty confident I’ll be able to stay at a comfortable temperature while keeping dry.
Everything is packed now. I was able to hang out with a few friends within the past week. In any case I’ll see most of my friends in a week… nonetheless, if they’re reading this blog, I may have nothing to talk about when I get back.
The following pictures are of events that have happened within the past 2 weeks:
